September has arrived, and with it comes that first little hint that summer is packing its bags and fall is moving in.

The mornings get cooler. The leaves start changing. Football returns. Apples suddenly become a personality trait. Halloween decorations mysteriously appear even though it’s still 78 degrees outside. 🎃

And we’re here for all of it.

At DOOZYDOO, we’re declaring September the beginning of FALL INTO AWESOME™, a celebration of the food, adventures, entertainment, traditions, road trips and ridiculously simple things that make fall one of the best times of the year.

You don’t need an elaborate fall bucket list. You don’t need to transform your house into a pumpkin-themed retail establishment.

Just find a few things that make September a little more awesome.

Here are 25 places to start.

🍁 Get Outside

1. Take Your First Fall Drive

Pick a road you’ve never traveled, turn on some music and go. The foliage doesn’t even need to be at peak yet. Half the fun is watching autumn slowly arrive.

2. Go Apple Picking

Grab a bag, wander through an orchard and somehow return home with enough apples to feed a small municipality.

3. Find an Early Foliage View

Northern New England can start showing color surprisingly early. Mountains, lakes and scenic overlooks make the first hints of red and orange even better.

4. Take an Evening Walk

September gives us that wonderful little window between summer heat and winter trying to kill us. Use it.

5. Have a Bonfire

Cool night. Fire. Comfortable chair. Maybe something good to eat or drink. Sometimes awesome really is that simple.

🍎 Taste Fall

6. Get an Apple Cider Donut

Warm is preferable. Multiple donuts may be required for scientific verification.

7. Make Your First Fall Comfort-Food Dinner

Chili. Soup. Pot roast. Mac and cheese. Chicken and dumplings. Whatever makes you happy when the temperature starts dropping.

8. Visit a Farm Stand

September is prime time for local apples, squash, pumpkins, corn and all kinds of good stuff.

9. Try Something Pumpkin-Flavored

Coffee? Muffin? Pancakes? Beer? Cookies?

You don’t have to surrender your entire personality to pumpkin spice. Just try something.

10. Make a Fall Dessert

Apple crisp is ridiculously hard to beat, but pumpkin bread, cider donuts, maple treats and warm cookies are all acceptable challengers.

🎃 Start Getting Spooky

11. Put Out the First Halloween Decoration

Just one.

Or seventeen.

We’re not judging.

12. Watch a Classic Fall or Halloween Movie

Horror, comedy, family movie, old favorite. September is when spooky-season viewing officially becomes defensible.

13. Plan a Haunted Adventure

Haunted house. Ghost tour. Haunted hayride. Historic cemetery. Creepy New England legend.

October gets crowded, so September is the perfect time to start plotting.

14. Learn a Local Legend

New England has centuries of ghosts, mysteries, folklore and weirdness. Find one from somewhere near you.

15. Start Your Halloween Watchlist

Instead of spending 40 minutes scrolling every night, make a list now.

Then spend only 20 minutes scrolling before watching something. Progress! 😂

🚗 Go Somewhere

16. Visit a Fall Fair

September means agricultural fairs, fried food, animals, rides, competitions and wonderfully questionable culinary decisions.

17. Take a Small-Town Road Trip

Find a downtown you’ve never explored. Grab lunch. Visit a local shop. Take the scenic route home.

18. Visit a Pumpkin Festival

Pumpkin festivals start appearing throughout New England in September and really explode in October. Giant pumpkins, pumpkin boats, pumpkin chucking and thousands of jack-o’-lanterns prove humans will build an event around absolutely anything. We approve.

19. Plan Your Peak-Foliage Adventure

Don’t wait until the leaves are perfect to figure out where you’re going.

Choose the destination now. When the color arrives, go.

20. Explore Somewhere Close to Home

Awesome doesn’t require airfare.

Find a trail, restaurant, attraction, roadside oddity, historic site or little town you’ve somehow ignored for years.

😊 Enjoy the Little Stuff

21. Open the Windows

That first cool September morning when you can turn off the air conditioner and let fresh air fill the house?

Glorious.

22. Watch Some Football

College, NFL, high school, fantasy or just an excuse to make ridiculous quantities of game-day food.

September means football is back. 🏈

23. Create a Fall Playlist

Build the soundtrack for road trips, decorating, cooking or sitting outside doing absolutely nothing.

Doing absolutely nothing remains wildly underrated.

24. Make Your Home Feel Like Fall

A blanket. A candle. Some mums. A pumpkin on the porch.

It doesn’t need to look like autumn threw up in your living room.

25. Do One Thing You’ve Been Putting Off

This one isn’t really about fall.

September feels like a natural reset. Summer ends, routines return and there are still four months left in the year.

Start the project. Take the class. Plan the trip. Call the person. Try the restaurant. Go somewhere.

Don’t wait for January to start making life better.

🍂 Fall Into Awesome™

That’s really what FALL INTO AWESOME™ is about.

Not completing 25 things.

Not creating another checklist that somehow turns having fun into unpaid administrative work.

It’s about noticing the season while you’re actually in it.

Eat something delicious. Go somewhere beautiful. Watch something fun. Try something new. Spend time with people you care about.

And make a few memories along the way.

Because September is here.

🍂 Awesomeness Awaits… So Let’s Go.™ 🚀
