A New Season Begins: Maybe You Don’t Need to Become Something New
There’s something about the beginning of a new season that makes us think we’re supposed to change everything.
New goals. New routines. New habits. New plans.
Apparently, even the leaves changing color means we should reorganize our lives before breakfast.
But maybe fall offers us a different lesson.
🍂 Change Doesn’t Always Mean Reinvention
Look outside.
The trees aren’t becoming something completely different. They’re simply moving into their next season.
Maybe we can do the same.
There are seasons for growing and pushing forward. There are seasons for changing direction. There are seasons for letting things go.
And there should also be seasons when we simply appreciate where we are.
Not every chapter of life needs to be about becoming better, busier, or more productive.
Sometimes we need to notice what’s already good.
🌲 Slow Down Enough to Notice
Fall doesn’t last very long.
One week the trees are mostly green. Then suddenly the hills explode with red, orange and gold. A few weeks later, the branches are bare.
If you’re not paying attention, you can practically miss the whole thing.
Life has a frustrating habit of working the same way.
We spend so much time thinking about what’s next that we forget to look around at what’s happening right now.
Take the walk.
Sit outside with your coffee.
Watch the sunset.
Take the long way home.
Put the phone down for ten minutes and actually look around.
Nothing profound has to happen.
That’s sort of the point.
🍁 Welcome the Season You’re In
Maybe today doesn’t need to be about becoming something new.
Maybe it’s enough to slow down, notice what’s around you, and welcome the season ahead.
You can keep growing.
You can keep dreaming.
You can keep working toward whatever comes next.
Just don’t get so busy building the next chapter that you forget to experience this one.
Look up. Slow down. Wonder more. Live well.
