FALL, FRIGHTS & FEASTS™

The calendar says fall. We say it’s time to make the most of it.

There’s something different about the first weekend of fall.

The mornings get a little cooler. The leaves start showing off. Pumpkin spice invades absolutely everything. Halloween decorations mysteriously appear in every store. And suddenly sitting outside with a warm drink while wearing a hoodie feels like an actual activity.

We’re here for it.

At DOOZYDOO, we believe you don’t need a huge trip or elaborate plans to turn an ordinary weekend into something awesome. Sometimes all it takes is a back road, a cider donut, a scary movie, and permission to fully embrace the season.

So welcome to FALL, FRIGHTS & FEASTS™, our celebration of everything that makes this time of year wicked good.

Here are 10 Wicked Good Ways to Kick Off the Season.

🍎 1. Find a Cider Donut Worth the Drive

Not a grocery-store donut pretending to be autumnal.

We mean the real thing.

Find a farm stand, orchard, country store, or bakery making fresh apple cider donuts and turn getting one into a mini road trip.

Bonus points if they’re still warm.

DOOZY TIP: Grab a half-dozen. Telling yourself they’re “for later” is part of the tradition.

🚗 2. Take the Long Way Somewhere

Fall is practically begging you to ignore the fastest route.

Pick a destination, turn off the highway, and explore the back roads instead. Look for old barns, covered bridges, mountain views, roadside stands, small downtowns, and those first splashes of red and orange in the trees.

The destination almost doesn’t matter.

Sometimes the drive is the adventure.

🎃 3. Buy Your First Pumpkin

You don’t have to carve it yet.

You don’t even need a plan for it.

Just find that first ridiculously photogenic pumpkin of the season and bring it home.

Put it on the porch. Stick it on the kitchen table. Surround it with mums. Name it Gary if the spirit moves you.

Fall has officially begun.

👻 4. Watch Something Spooky

You don’t have to jump directly into nightmare fuel.

The beginning of fall is perfect for easing into spooky season with a Halloween classic, supernatural mystery, creepy thriller, monster movie, or something wonderfully cheesy involving fog machines and questionable acting.

Turn off the lights, make popcorn, grab a blanket, and let spooky season commence.

🍲 5. Make Something That Tastes Like Fall

This is the weekend when the oven earns its keep again.

Try chili, soup, baked mac and cheese, apple crisp, pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls, roasted vegetables, or something bubbling away in a slow cooker for several hours.

Your house should smell so good that leaving it becomes mildly irritating.

That’s how you know you’ve done it correctly.

🔥 6. Have a Fire

Fire pit. Fireplace. Campfire.

Whatever you’ve got.

Cool evenings and crackling fires were basically designed for each other. Add a blanket, something warm to drink, a few snacks, and preferably someone you actually enjoy talking to.

Phones down for a while wouldn’t hurt either.

The internet will survive without us.

Probably.

🍁 7. Go Looking for the First Fall Color

You don’t need peak foliage.

In fact, that’s part of the fun.

Head outside and look for the first signs that the season is changing: one bright-red maple, yellow leaves along a riverbank, orange creeping across a hillside.

Take pictures now and return to the same spot in a couple of weeks.

Watching autumn arrive can be every bit as beautiful as seeing it at its peak.

🕯️ 8. Make Home Feel Like Fall

This doesn’t require converting your living room into the seasonal aisle at a craft store.

Although we’re not judging.

Swap in a cozy blanket. Light a fall candle. Put out a few pumpkins. Add some warm lighting. Change up the front porch. Bring out your favorite mug.

Small changes can completely shift the mood of a space.

Welcome back, cozy.

We’ve missed you.

🥾 9. Get Outside

Take a walk.

Hit a trail.

Visit an orchard.

Explore a small town.

Sit beside a lake.

Go somewhere you’ve driven past 147 times and always said, “We should stop there sometime.”

This is sometime.

Fall weekends disappear ridiculously fast, so grab one while it’s here.

🍂 10. Start a Fall Tradition

This might be our favorite one.

Pick something you can repeat every fall.

Maybe it’s visiting the same orchard. Taking an annual foliage drive. Watching the same Halloween movie. Making a particular meal. Spending a weekend in the mountains. Going pumpkin hunting. Taking a family photo in the same place.

Big adventures are wonderful.

But traditions are the little adventures that become part of your story.

🍂 Make This Weekend Awesome

You don’t need to accomplish all ten.

Actually, please don’t turn this into another checklist you’re obligated to complete. Humanity has enough spreadsheets.

Pick one or two things that sound fun and go do them.

Take the drive.

Eat the donut.

Buy the pumpkin.

Watch the movie.

Light the fire.

Notice the leaves.

Because the first weekend of fall only happens once a year, and this season has an annoying habit of disappearing just when we’re getting comfortable.

So get out there.

Good vibes. Big adventures. And maybe an irresponsible number of cider donuts. 🍎🍂🎃
