🫎🎬 Muddy Moose Movies, Music & More The Death of Robin Hood Review

[mailpoet_form id="2"]

When I heard Hugh Jackman was playing Robin Hood, my brain immediately pictured an older, battle-hardened outlaw delivering brutal sword fights, clever one-liners, and one last legendary adventure.

Instead…

…I got Robin Hood: Existential Crisis Edition.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

It’s just not the movie I bought a ticket for.

This Isn’t Your Dad’s Robin Hood

Forget Errol Flynn.

Forget Kevin Costner.

Forget even Russell Crowe.

This version asks one question:

“What happens after the legend is over?”

Robin is older. Broken. Bleeding. Haunted by the people he’s killed and the choices he’s made.

It’s a fascinating premise.

Unfortunately, the movie spends so much time staring into Robin’s soul that it occasionally forgets to entertain the audience.

Hugh Jackman Does His Job…

…and then some.

The guy simply doesn’t phone it in.

Even when the script slows to a crawl, Jackman keeps you invested. He makes Robin feel tired, dangerous, and genuinely remorseful.

Jodie Comer is equally impressive, bringing mystery and emotion to every scene she’s appears in.

The supporting cast is stacked with talent.

Honestly…

Nobody here is the problem.

Beautiful Misery

Visually?

Absolutely gorgeous.

The forests feel cold.

The villages feel lived in.

The violence is raw, messy, and refreshingly realistic.

When this movie finally decides to wake up and throw a punch…

It lands.

The problem is it sometimes takes forever to throw that punch.

I Kept Waiting…

…for one more big moment.

One more unforgettable battle.

One more speech.

One more legendary Robin Hood scene that I’d still be thinking about on the drive home.

It never quite arrived.

Instead, the movie stays committed to being quiet, thoughtful, and emotionally heavy.

I respect that.

I just wish it had a little more fun along the way.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t a bad movie.

It’s actually a pretty good one.

But with Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill SkarsgΓ₯rd, and a cast this talented…

I expected something great.

Instead, I walked out thinking:

“Yeah… that was fine.”

And “fine” feels like a missed opportunity.

6/10 Moose

🍿 Verdict

Worth Watching… Just Don’t Rush to the Theater.

If you’re a Hugh Jackman fan, you’ll probably appreciate what he’s doing here.

If you’re looking for an action-packed Robin Hood adventure…

Temper those expectations.

πŸ‘ Best Part

Hugh Jackman’s performance and the film’s haunting, beautifully shot atmosphere.

πŸ‘Ž Biggest Miss

It mistakes slow pacing for emotional depth a few too many times.

🫎🍻 The Doozy Dude Says…

“I wanted Robin Hood with a sword in one hand and an arrow in the other. Instead, I got Robin Hood scheduling a therapy session.”
